AREA INFORMATION

ABOUT THE AREA:
This area is of considerable reliability. It has formed up each of the last 4 years. It is one of the most impressive of all PA ice climbing areas. It averages about 85' in height and ranges up to about 100'. The area does receive its fair share of sun and does create problems when the temperatures start to rise. Most routes are in the NEI 4 to 5 range with several mixed desperates dotting the area. Only a handful of routes in the 3+ range exist.

GETTING THERE:
From the town of Confluence in South Western PA, pick up the rails to trails bike trail at the Ramcat parking area. follow the trail down river approximately 2 miles to where a stream running off the left hillside crosses under the bike trail. Directly after the stream, follow the obvious trail up the hillside 400 vertical feet to the ice. The ice lies on Pennsylvania State Game land in an abandoned quarry.

CAMPING/ACCOMODATIONS:
Since the cliffs are located on State Game Lands, camping is NOT permitted and strongly discouraged. This is a great area to climb, lets keep it that way by obeying state game lands rules. Camping can be found in other nearby campgounds or several local B&B's offer warm accomodations. If in need of a place to crash or more info. Please email me.

EATS:
Sisters Restaurant - located in the town of Confluence, offers homestyle cooking and great breakfast.

AREA #1 - Left End

The shortest of the climbs at Confluence this area sees quite a bit of topropping and those looking to try their hand at leading steep climbs.

AREA #2 - Central

The area offers some of the longest, most sustained climbing at Confluence. The most recommended route is Makes me wet. This 100' steep Grade 5 is what Confluence is all about! Also in this section of cliff is the moderate and popular unamed NEI 3+ route.

AREA #3 - Right End
Mixed climbing anyone? Check out the 30' freehanger waiting to be climbed. Yes it will GO!
